Welcome to Sarana Counseling
My goal is to help individuals cope with life's stressors, to support assisted self-discovery, and to help clients build skills to reduce suffering to engage more fully in life. Areas we can explore together include but are not limited to: life transitions, depression, trauma history, grief/loss, caregiver stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, work/life balance, chronic health conditions, sexual orientation, and family dynamics. ~ Susan December 2019 update: my practice is currently full and my wait list is maxed (I limit my wait list to 4 individuals to avoid excessive delays in starting therapy). Check back here for updates on openings in my schedule. Feel free to email me if you'd like suggestions of other trusted therapists who may have immediate openings.

What does Sarana mean?
Sarana is a Pali word that means “refuge.” Pali is the classical language in which the teachings of the Buddha have been preserved. Sarana is defined as a shelter from danger or trouble. I chose this name to emphasize my sincere desire to provide you with a safe and supportive place to explore your opportunities for healing.
